Head of Risk Practice

Mark holds the position of Director – Risk (Head of Risk) and is based in the Dubai (UAE) office of j. awan & partners.

Mark brings an extensive Risk Management experience gained over a 20-year career in several retail and commercial banks and financial services firms, as well as Big 4 experience working in the UK. As a seasoned practitioner, he brings positive energy and helps business leaders see beyond the theory of risk management in order to achieve their strategic goals and make more informed risk decisions. Mark’s key areas of expertise include enterprise and operational risk, risk governance, business continuity and culture. Over the years, he has successfully helped design, implement and embed a range of risk management frameworks, operating models and processes, many of which have been delivered through projects, training and coaching as well as a variety of assurance-based activities.

Mark has an undergraduate degree from the University of Manchester and a master’s degree from the University of London. He also holds professional qualifications from the Institute of Risk Management (IRM).
